Service Description

This ALL LEVEL level class introduces students to the materials, tools, and techniques of contemporary collage, assemblage and abstract painting. Working from personal vision or inspiration, students will develop expressive collage, assemblage and mixed-media artwork. Students have the option of working solely on abstract painting projects. During the eight week session, students will complete one to two fully developed mixed media artworks. These might be assemblage, collage, an abstract painting or any combination thereof. Students will learn principles of effective composition through experimentation with color, form, and design. Techniques covered include collage, stenciling, layering, texturing and the effective use of found objects and mementos. Students will learn effective use of text, images, texture, and natural objects to enhance and personalize their artwork. It is recommended that students have some idea as to what that they would like to work on and see come to life. Supplies will be discussed during the first class.

Cancellation Policy

1. The Art Center reserves the right to cancel classes or camps due to insufficient enrollment. If The Art Center cancels a class or camp, registrants will receive a refund. We reserve the right to substitute an instructor if necessary. 2. The Art Center does not pro-rate class or camp fees. 3. Membership fees are non-refundable. 4. Four business days notice must be given before the start of the first class if you wish to cancel. 5. Registration changes and cancellations will incur an administrative fee of $30. 6. Refunds will be processed within 30 days after the 1st day of the start of class. 6a. For high demand classes: if you cancel your registration and vacate your seat, we will retain 50% of your initial registration fee to pay the instructor, if the seat cannot be filled. This is in addition to the $30 administration fee. 7. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after the beginning of the class or camp.
